LNA Services & Resources
Doing more together.
Nonprofits are often expected to do more with less. At the Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance, we’ve developed support programs to help you leverage your resources and work efficiently. This way, you can continue to do the important work of moving your mission forward to drive organizational and community impact, without the stress of trying to do it alone!
Most of these services listed are included in the cost of membership. Workshop and consulting services are offered at discounted pricing for members.
Trainings
LNA holds trainings monthly—either virtually or in-person—to provide members with an easy way to sharpen your knowledge and skills through a topic expert. A wide range of topics are covered—from marketing to fundraising to team building to strategic planning and more.
Learning Circles
We facilitate Learning Circles bi-monthly to create opportunities for peer-to-peer learning centered around topics and issues that matter most to nonprofits. Learning Circles will give real-time support, resources, and connection with other LNA members. See upcoming learning circles and get tickets. –>
Nonprofit Job Postings
LNA has pulled together a list of all nonprofit jobs in the Lakeshore area to help people looking for work in the nonprofit sector, and to help our members find passionate and qualified candidates for open positions. Take a look at open jobs or post one of your own. –>

Leadership Training
LNA offers several immersive leadership opportunities for nonprofit executives and managers.
Nonprofit LEAD 24/7
A twelve-month immersive leadership opportunity for nine executive nonprofit leaders each year who desire to grow in their own leadership skillsets and abilities. This program is designed for a truly transformational learning and growth experience.
How to Manage Effectively
This 12-month cohort is designed for first time or mid-level managers/supervisors seeking to develop skills needed to support the work of their organizations. This series covers a wide range of topics with a focus on leading and developing through setting, monitoring, and achieving clear goals and objectives.
DEI Leadership Cohort
This four-month DEI Leadership Cohort is designed for leaders affiliated with Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance, to enhance inclusive leadership development and personal behavior change, that fosters inclusive growth and belonging in ourselves, our relationships, our organizations, and our communities.
Board Training
Boards of Directors play a critical role in the success of any nonprofit organization. But how do we know how effectively a board is governing? LNA offers consulting that includes a board assessment, education for board members, and recommendations for governance improvement.
Direct Assistance
LNA staff is always available to answer questions and provide technical advice regarding the various aspects of running a nonprofit organization. These confidential conversations support the unique requirements of each member. Most inquiries are included in membership, while ongoing consulting may require an additional fee.
Starting a Nonprofit Consultation
The Lakeshore Nonprofit Alliance exists primarily for the benefit of its member nonprofits, but we also understand the value of providing start-up support to those individuals with charitable ideas! If you have an idea of how to bring value to this community and the people living in it by becoming a nonprofit, we’d love to help. We offer free 15-minute phone consultations for non-members within our service area (Greater Ottawa County) and face-to-face consultations for members. Contact us to schedule an initial consultation. –>
Consultant Network
To support and enhance the work of nonprofits, LNA offers a directory of nonprofit consultants covering a wide array of expertise including strategic planning, fundraising support, marketing, human resources, bookkeeping, and more.
Tools and Templates
LNA maintains a large library of tools and templates that we provide to members upon request. Commonly requested resources include board development resources, employee handbook language, policy language, job descriptions, performance evaluations, compensation data, and much more. Past Annual Report
Take a look at last year’s annual report to learn more about the ways we were able to support West Michigan nonprofits, and how your support is crucial.
Nonprofit Community Assessment
We launched the Nonprofit Community Assessment in 2019 as a first-of-its-kind data collection project to help measure the overall health of the local nonprofit community. The results (to be collected every three years) track several important outcomes for Ottawa County-area nonprofits including demographic data, retention and talent level of staff, board practices, compensation data, and more.
Online Nonprofit Resources
Continuing education and establishing best practices are important to our members. We are fortunate to have access to a number of free online resources that can help in accomplishing these goals:
